Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) recently lectured a state attorney from Boston on the fundamentals of following the Constitution and its limits on state snooping without a valid search warrant. The aforementioned lawyer from Boston was attempting to lobby for greater access for law enforcement to private citizens’ information via the typical unconstitutional spying tactics of late. You and I would probably think resistance to these soviet-style snooping tactics is as basic as it gets. Unfortunately as we’ve lately learned, the NSA isn’t quite up to speed on this one, basic rule: “follow the damn constitution.”
Representative Lieu, thank you from the bottom of my heart for showing you understand the 4th amendment, and for your dedicated service to our Union’s defense.
